During the following courses, students will be assessed utilising a practical, hands-on approach, which can be held either at the student's workplace or at Broadband Connects training office, giving each student adequate guidance throughout the training process.

Depending on whether the student has prior adequate work-based knowledge, the course or particular subject matter may be eligible for RPL (Registered Prior Learning).

(RESTRICTED RULE)
INSTALL, MAINTAIN AND MODIFY CUSTOMER PREMISES COMMUNICATIONS CABLING
ICTCBL246

Course duration: 1 - 2 days

Cost: To be determined on whether the student is eligible for Registered Prior Learning (RPL), or whether further experience or training is required.

Restricted cabling is used in typical domestic premises, small offices, home offices and small business premises. Restricted cablers can install cable in large commercial and industrial premises provided the cabling is behind a compliant device and is not, via jumpable distributors or patch panels.

The Telecommunications Cabling Provider Rules (CPRs) 2000 place various limitations on Restricted cablers. These include a prohibition on them performing cabling work where they may have access to a reticulated electrical supply that exceeds typical domestic single-phase and three-phase electrical supply voltages – nominally 240 volts AC (for single-phase) or 415 volts AC (for three-phase).

The student will require 80-hours practical experience in order to be successful.

(OPEN RULE) INSTALL, MAINTAIN AND MODIFY CUSTOMER PREMISES COMMUNICATIONS CABLING
ICTCBL247

Course duration: 3 - 4 days

Cost: To determine whether the student is eligible for Registered Prior Learning (RPL) or whether further experience or training is required.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to safely install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling required according to the ACMA ‘Open’ Cabling Provider Rule.
This rule is associated with small installations connected to sockets and larger commercial and industrial installations involving many lines, multi-pair cables, backbone cabling, multi-story buildings and more complicated termination modules and distributors.

The student will require 360-hours practical experience in order to successfully complete and attain the Open Cablers License.
